talkin with the (wo)man in the mirror

clem's recently begun distinguishing and wanting to name "mom", "dada", and *points to herself*. today she was cleaning the house with a sponge and struck up a conversation with herself in the bathroom mirror. i caught the very tail end of it. and it ends dramatically as she puts the nasty sponge in her mouth. oh, and there are some pics from the trot to the botanic garden.

hurricane irene

so irene blew our entire notion of time out of whack, so you only get these photos now. in reality, they were taken on a new phone, and i've only now realized how easily i can transfer them to the blog. (thank you google).

pretty much the extent of the damage we took.

late afternoon when it became clear that we weren't in real danger. with a new "raincover" for bear.

labor day weekend in swansea

labor day weekend arrived, which meant heids and clem were leaving. not a bad decision, as the parade makes things "interesting" around here, and a great weekend was had with mim and papi.

clem had a playdate with eva and her mom (heidi's good friend and mspp classmate rachel). their age difference is constantly shrinking. that is not true. their developmental difference is shrinking. there's really no way to decrease the time between their birthdays.

papi got to take a stroll on the beach with two little girls. in some ways it had to be reminiscent of old times.

this is the bluest photo we've ever taken. of course, rachel's shirt could be purple, and i'd never know the difference.

it was time for enthusiastic book reading.

for everyone. it was awesome.

assertively rocking the piggies.

this is adorable.

a color coordinated photo.

big visit! (photo credit: aunt lolly)

swings

are

super

cool

mom.

hurrican irene

this is what the fridge looked like as irene approached. there were plenty o' dry goods, batteries and water as well, but this was amusing. of course i know what the fridges on hilo circle and seaview lane look like, so the genetic coding was there.

visit from great aunt lolly

lolly visited in late august and we were all toasted in the sun. clem found the library's entrance delightful.

took the stroller for a wash

there was modeling of new aprons. tres chic.

this was the best behaved meal out since ambulation began.

from brunch to the playground, underhill-style.

this cabin has no roof, but no one seems to notice.

clem pushes the roof off this photo.
