catchin up

the look of someone daring you to try to remove her from the sauce.

tada! now clean it up.

so much hair that the double piggies are now in effect

as are the crayons. first drawing. better than dad's.

roadtrip to yale. @rachel's open studios. verdict on each room: "more" "more"

where she learned that corn don't only come in a can.

...and it is much easier to eat when packaged on its clever built-in handle.

she also got a hold on some art. in this case, knitted dong art. mom is doing her best disgusted face while laughing uproariously.

made an instant connection with anne frank. on a bar. cause everyone needs a good reminder before drinking.

speaking of drinking, put down that beer! no, not like that!

the cake that showed up on our doorstep the day before heids' birthday. it was delicious. neighbors are cool.

first sun all week. no lawn mowing in the park due to the rain.

strangely formatted picture with the neighborhood kids.

mom shows clem her cool trick wherein she levitates a blue disc. careful to keep it off the hair.

cookies: nearly as good as sauce.

more neighbors happy to meet the lass. this guy was awesome and so was his kite.

helicopter. not pictured: most of dad. also not pictured: dizzy falls in the grass. also also not pictured: repeated signs for "more" "more" "more"

some Mothers Day action

courtesy of christopher and eliza's camera:

three happy moms with three happy babies

clem is still very distrustful of the bike helmet. we tried to show her how henry likes his. situation: skeptical.

a good fruit salad knows no skeptics, however.

yes, she looks like dad.

henry spots eamon's belly button. hilarity ensues. except in eamon's mind.

for the facebook avoidant

another recent tale posted the other day:

personality in the young one is beginning to bubble up. today at the garden, clem grabbed a piece of mulch that could have doubled as a prison shank. she was much attached to it. we started to hang out with a 2yr old russian boy who came to offer her a cherry blossom at his mom's suggestion.

clem's response: two quick steps backward and some not so subtle brandishing of the shiv. message delivered.

don't look behind her back.

...i love to draw drawings...

these days we really seem to have turned a corner on our language development. now that walking is old hat, clem has come back around to improving her language. she understands a ton of words, and always seems to be listening and understanding a lot of what we say. but now she is trying out new word-sounds of her own.  pair this with her dad's sense of humor and two days alone each week and god only knows what is happening while i am away at work. this little video illustrates nicely one of the things that clem and daddy enjoy doing together...

Mim & Papi visit the hood

mim and papi came to visit brooklyn this weekend. you'll note no pictures of the botanic garden as it was full of japanese fetish characters for the cherry blossom festival. so much so that we didn't even fit.

the mim can effectively handle two toddlers at once. it helps that henry merely asks for iced tea.

henry assures clem that the tea is gone. she asks for proof.

the H man explains where the tea has gone.

clem is wistful, remembering how good that tea was.

mim and papi! accurate representation.

you're ransoming my sunglasses for this cookie? bitch please. vankowski's don't bargain with terrorists.

clem decided to tickle a stranger's feet.

seriously, tea, where hast thou gone?

hugs for the mimster. smiles cause that's a freshie on clem's ass.

a week late, clem leads us to the promised land.

bike lesson from papi.

slides: still kick ass.

elvis sneer attempt one.

your games don't play here, punk.

wee ones learn of wockets.
